1958 Department of Public Safety Report
Department of Public Safety
Our Police and Fire departments rate high among those in towns of our size in any part of the country.
We maintain a land radio station 24 hours a day which services, in addition to our own, several police and fire departments in adjacent towns.
Midlothian is one of the few towns in the area that has 24-hour police protection. At the present we have 4 full-time officers and 12 reserve officers available for special duty. Our equipment and record system is equal to that of any town in the state. We are the only town in our police district with a qualified Family Court officer for juvenile problems.
I take great pride in submitting the following detailed reports by Police Chief John A. Ward and Fire Chief Frank Wiswell.
